Coffee geek → Quick Mill Grinders, Niels Barends: Bottom Line: Good enough for big amounts of beans, but... #coffee

The Quick Mill 031 is a fine looking grinder. A nice design and it does what it is made for: grinding. Unfortunately everybody in the house will know perfectly well when you are grinding beans, since it is a noisy machine and it distorts the television signal for instance... so you have to be a magician to surprise your friends or partner with a nice espresso or cappuccino. For grinding big amounts of beans, it is a great machine. It doesnt take that long to grind big amounts, but its always these last 10 or 20 beans that will take easily up to 3 to 4 minutes before they have been ground. These last 20 beans will jump up several times and makes this annoying ticking sound, just to remind you that they are still alive... However, since I use caffeine beans before 12am and decaffeine beans after 12am, i cannot keep my beans in the funnel feeder all the time. I only grind 19 ...
