Fresh Roast SR500 is simple to use and the clear roasting chamber makes it easy to see how your beans are roasting. Then it stops there. The unit is a juggling act with the base, roasting chamber and the top chaff collector waiting to fall over. The worst is the very under-powered fan that can not move the full recommended green beans. After reducing the amount of beans by one third I could roast the green beans to full roast. But, after the 4th time of using the SR500 the fan stopped working. The roaster cost me $179.00. I went to the hardware store, spent $75.00 on parts and build my own roaster. Now I can roast 2 lbs of beans at once instead of 1/3 cup. The roaster that I made from hardware parts is still working after a year.
