Congratulations dear #baristas

Those who follow barista competitions were seeing double at the final regional event of the 2012 season, as the North Central and South Central regions joined forces for a barista blowout, held March 23-25 at Chicago’s Ravenswood Event Center. On the barista competition side, Ryan Knapp of MadCap Coffee and Lorenzo Perkins from Cuvee Coffee became repeat regional winners, winning the North Central and South Central titles, respectively. In the Brewers Cup competition, independent competitor Jon Ferguson and Half & Half’s Mike Marquard took home their first Brewers Cup wins. All four baristas move on to the national level of their respective competitions at the U.S. Barista Championship, taking place April 19-22 in Portland.
