Coffee Review: Papua New Guinea Baroida from Counter Culture

In case you didn’t know, the South East Regional Barista Competition (SERBC) and Brewer’s Cup was this past weekend. It was exciting and one thing stood out…most of the competitors used Papua New Guinea Baroida (PNG). After drooling hearing the competitors go on and on about how wonderful this coffee was, I had to find some. Luckily, Whole Foods had some from local roaster, Counter Culture Coffee. Brewing Method : Chemex Fragrance - When I opened the bag and ground the coffee, nuttiness and spices filled the air. Aroma – Brewing the coffee, dried fruit became more pronounced with a hint of molasses. The spice stuck around the whole time. Taste – I enjoyed an overwhelming spiciness and dried fruit.
